Hong Kong Murray House
Murray House is a building in Hong Kong has a Victorian color, the site is located in Central, Hong Kong Island, and later moved to Stanley. At present the main floor as the restaurant uses. In 2005, the Housing Authority will be its property divestment in order to obtain funds, in care of The Link Management.
history
The north shore of Hong Kong Island Murray House was built in 1844, it belongs to a part of the Murray Barracks, mainly used as a barracks of the British garrison. To Hong Kong during the Japanese occupation, Murray House was used as the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong to the Japanese Imperial Army military police headquarters, and has more than a dozen prisoners room and used as a place of execution, which reportedly killed more than 4,000 people, called the death outside the hospital the largest number of buildings. After World War II, Murray House was once more the Hong Kong government as an office. During 1975-1982, Murray House became the headquarters of the Rating and Valuation Department.
In 1982, in response to construction projects Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong, Murray House needs to be removed. Because of its historical value, the government decided to retain the integrity of the building and moved elsewhere. Spin-off of more than 3,000 pieces of building materials and proper records are stored.
In 1990, the Housing Authority decided to move to Stanley Murray House. The whole building in 1998 resettlement project is completed. 1999 re-opening.
