Hong Kong Cattle Depot Artist Village
Cattle Depot Artist Village is located in Ma Tau Kok Ma Tau Kok Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong 63, adjacent to thirteen Street old buildings, Cattle Depot Artist Village is a venue for arts studio rental. Art Village, formerly known as the seat of central slaughtering cattle center, built in 1908, closed down in August 1999, rebuilt and split into multiple units leased to local art home studio to do, and slowly evolved into the Cattle Depot Artist village. Cattle Depot Artist Village covers an area of 1.7 hectares, is tiled steeple of brick bungalows building.
Currently, there are more than twenty artists and arts organizations in the field, including the "Zuni Icosahedron", "Art Commune", "cow academy", "1A space", "CUTANDTRY", "Frog King" etc., most open to the public to visit to appreciate.

Cattle Depot Artist Village, formerly known as Ma Tau Kok Cattle Quarantine Station (government beast quarantine station, also known as Ma Tau Kok Ox), built in 1908. The original is located in Hung Hom, Kowloon, said the cattle slaughterhouses and plants, covering about 1.7 hectares, features a large slaughterhouse, three sheds and other related facilities beast, enough to accommodate nearly 120 head of cattle, 200 sheep and 400 pigs only only; due to the above address after the construction of the Kowloon-Canton Railway and the need to migrate Kwa Wan Ma Tau Kok Road.
In 1999, due to the influence of the environment and urban development, urban slaughterhouses in operation at the site often cause environmental health problems, causing nuisance to nearby residents, thus abandoned Ma Tau Kok Ox, moved on to New water slaughterhouses. To July 2001, the former Ma Tau Kok Road Animal Inspection Station converted into a renovated Art Village.

Using red brick structure Ma Tau Kok Ox, building layout very early twentieth century Western markets, Hong Kong is the only remaining building slaughterhouses for centuries. "Bullpen" of several red-brick building is very unique. Facing the entrance of the bullpen is the atrium, there are about 40 square meters of space, brick by brick low wall enclosed. The atrium is surrounded by five red-brick bungalows each 50 meters long, flower railings outside the red brick house decorated wooden ceiling beams, the roof tiles spire, doors and windows, installed in the foundation of the house and chains and hoop feed stone trough, etc., each bungalow has a cast iron external support, I do not know what to do original use, now all painted black, does have a very strong sense of decoration; long cement bricks of the original manger of the cows now former remain in the room, and cylindrical cow tied together to become a unique symbol of the artist village, still retains the original features of the building quarantine station.
