Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens
Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens was first established in Hong Kong Park, located in Albany Road, Central, Hong Kong Island, and Robinson Road, Glenealy, Upper Albert Road and Garden Road and other roads around the , it covers an area of 5.6 hectares. Provided in the main entrance of the park Albany Road. Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens is one of the tourist attractions.
Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens is located in the north slopes of Victoria Peak, the highest point 100 meters above sea level, while the lowest was at an altitude of 62 meters. The entire park is Garden Road, Robinson Road, Glenealy and Upper Albert Road surround. Albany Road where the park is divided into more stuff two separate parts, relying on pedestrian tunnel connecting two parts of the east part of the park known as the "Old Park", a children's playground, aviary, greenhouse and fountain terrace garden ; the west part of the "new park", mainly mammals and reptiles residence.
Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens since 1876 has begun to keep wild animals for exhibition, with very few original buildings breeding birds and mammals, purely for visitors to watch. After the mid-1970s launched a large-scale expansion, the park focuses more on captive breeding technology and promote the activities included in the park: through education, conservation, research and exhibition programs, promote public understanding and appreciation of various organisms; and leading the public to appreciate each species coexisting with nature of the road.
At present, about half of the park where the animals allocated for breeding purposes, provided about 40 cages, fed a total of about 400 birds, 70 mammals and 70 reptiles. The largest body of which a total of three Bornean orangutan, only 10 years old orangutan King "Datuk" after the death of the zoo to introduce a 15-year-old male Bornean orangutan from Hungary, a zoo, called "Vandu", with the original a pair of mother and daughter "Madi Jia" (Merdeka) and "Chinese Ballet" (Raba) life together.
Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens planted 1,000 species of plants, mostly produced in tropical and subtropical regions. The southern corner of the park has a medicinal garden, shrubs and plants are concentrated in the fountain terrace garden. In the eastern edge of the park greenhouses planted with native and exotic species of plants more than 150, including orchids, ferns, bromeliads, climbers and indoor plants.
