今年的凤凰木很绚烂
今年的凤凰木比往年开得都要绚烂一些，远远看去，红彤似火，灿若云霞。
近日，广东四大名园之一的余荫山房内有三株百年凤凰木，最长者有近150年的树龄，如今凤凰木正值花开，引来不少游客观赏。
什么是凤凰木
凤凰木又名金凤花、红花楹树、火树、洋楹等，花色花开五瓣，花开时满树结花，火红一片；花谢瓣落，树下宛如铺上一层红毯，被誉为色彩最火红的树木之一。因叶如飞凰之羽，花若丹凤之冠，故得名凤凰木，是著名的热带观赏树种。
凤凰木的历史
番禺南村流传 “未有余荫山房，先有凤凰木”之说。相传古时在余荫山房邻近的东源坊岗地，生长着一片茂密的梧桐树，造就了“凤凰来仪”的自然景观，后因梧桐林遭到滥伐，以致凤凰不再来仪。
为此，村民有“望女成凤”的心态，故在村边遍植凤凰木作为风水树，还将“凤起”二字作为祠堂的门匾，记录了此地曾是“凤凰来仪”的风水宝地。
凤凰花开时，红花炽烈如火，如红云弥漫，有诗赞曰：“得汝清荫胜幔纱，山房一隅铺彩霞。”
