Hong Kong Museum of History
Hong Kong Museum of History is located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, 100 Chatham Road South, Hong Kong, now by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department to build and manage a total cost of HK $ 390 million to build, opened in 1998, September 28. Hong Kong Museum of History's predecessor, the Urban Council was established in 1962 in Hong Kong Museum of Natural History, then Locations in Hong Kong City Hall. July 1975 was split into Hong Kong Museum of Art and Museum. Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong Museum of Early Stars had rented behavior Locations, Kowloon Park in 1983 moved to temporary Locations (Locations is now the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Center).
With the development of the museum, the old Locations is insufficient, so there is demand for the construction of the new museum. In 1995, the government in the implementation of Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui near Hong Kong Science Museum (ie Chatham Road camp site, when it was recreational parks) to build permanent Locations, then expand the project. With effect from April 1, 1998 renamed the Hong Kong Museum of History. July 1998 moved to its present site side of Hong Kong Science Museum, opening September 28 the same year. Only Pavilion "The Hong Kong Story" is still under construction, and finally to August 2001, after six years of preparations for the "Hong Kong Story" permanent exhibition was officially opened for public visit.
