Law Uk Folk Museum is located in Hong Kong, Chai Wan, Hong Kong Museum of History is one of five branches in by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. And its construction has become monuments in Hong Kong.
Law Uk Folk Museum of Architecture named Luo house, built in the Qing Dynasty, is a village house has 200 years of history, the original inhabitants is the Hakka people. Early 18th century, the Hakka people from migrating to Hong Kong Chai Wan Bao, built the village settlement, the Hakka people used to name their surnames to their ethnic group house. Because that is the owner of Law Uk Hakka surname Luo, but they are built this village house in the Qianlong period, and won thirty-two years of Qianlong red Yin Qi. Chai Wan original six villages: Law Uk, into the house, blue house, land and house, and a large village Nishimura, are Hakka village. Law Uk in 1941 when the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong part of the building was destroyed by fire, but with the development of the town, each village will have disappeared, Law Uk some local village was leased to outsiders running a small workshop, until 1967 all moved to the Roche Talent from Law Uk. Law Uk become the only remaining village house in Chai Wan area, the government decided to keep the whole block of Law Uk in 1972.
Law Uk is a medium-sized common Hakka gate house, an area of about 120 square meters Miankuo three, shingled roof bedding, flat ridge of the roof is simple, is a typical "three two-room" of traditional Chinese houses, the central main hall is one, is the core of the whole house, where the ancestral tablets, and built on both sides of the penthouse loft together form the "three off" pattern, symmetrical layout, with a clear central axis, the room is a workplace and bedroom , while the attic is used as a storage chamber and a child's sleeping place. For security, the windows of small houses, the courtyard is used as lighting and ventilation between the hall and the door, covered patio built on both sides of the "gallery" as a kitchen and debris. The entrance door is the only full-house, concave bucket main entrance door to the granite structure, the rear door with a straight wooden cage to strengthen security, there are eaves to keep out wind and rain, the house is used as a dried grain, laundry and banquet said as a "sun roof" or "Wo Ping" open space.
