Hong Kong Hung Shing Temple
Hung Shing Temple in Hong Kong, Kau Sai Chau, Sai Kung, is a typical village temple architecture. Since Kau Village residents living in fishing, it is dedicated to raising funds to build the temple of Poseidon Hung Shing to security and peace. According to the villagers legend and speculation from the inscription of the temple, Hung Shing Temple already built before 1889, the temple has long been a region of Kau Sai Chau, not only for fishermen pray for safety, but also the unity of the local community social functions. Sai Kung residents will hold large-scale celebrations in Kau Sai Chau Hung Shing Temple and its adjacent open space in the annual flood of Christmas.
The temple is a recent restoration project carried out in 1999, the Hong Kong Jockey Club funded. Project to restore the original appearance of the temple is the principle, under the supervision of the Antiquities and Monuments Office, completed in 2000. In the local villagers under the full support and active participation, is a key restoration project was awarded the UNESCO "Asia Pacific 2000 cultural relics protection award" Outstanding Project Award. Hung Shing Temple on November 15, 2002 was declared a monument.
